Jekyll Island, Georgia
Raccoon Key Bird Watching, ECO and Sightseeing Tours, Jekyll Island Georgia

For the first time in years, this pristine 1,750 acre undeveloped island, which lies just south of Jekyll Island Georgia in Saint Andrews Sound, is open to the public. Raccoon Key is totally different and unique from any place on earth!

If you are planning an outdoor adventure, school field trip, group eco-tour, birding trip, or any type of group activity on the Georgia coast near Jekyll Island, Cumberland Island or Saint Simons Island, you must first see Raccoon Key.

Your island experience will begin in the Jekyll Island Historic District, departing from the Jekyll Wharf Marina on one of Captain Phillip’s boats.  The trip takes about 35 minutes between Jekyll Island and Raccoon Key, as it leisurely travels through Saint Andrews Sound - home to one of the world's highest concentrations of bottle-nosed dolphins.  Your next destination is the boat dock located on Umbrella Creek.

The beauty and unspoiled magnificence of Raccoon Key and the abundant wildlife are indescribable.  If you love nature and birding, this is a unique experience like none other.

Photographic opportunities here are endless.  A local photogragher calls Raccoon Key the "easy shot" location on the Georgia coast.  Not only are the freshwater lakes filled with birds, largemouth bass, and bream, Raccoon Key offers one of the finest places in the United States to observe large numbers of alligators in the wild.
Manatees are regulars in the surf along the beach.  Also large numbers of horseshoe crabs can be found on the beach coming to shore to mate. Page: http://www.raccoonkey.info/Home_Page.html
